STANLEY
PARK
CEMETERY

Prior to its existence as a public park, Vancouver’s Stanley Park was home to a number of Coast Salish peoples. Rather than creating permanent monuments for their individual dead out of materials like stone and rock, the Coast Salish constructed temporary memorials that were designed to disintegrate back into the earth. And so, a contemporary proposal was put for a collective cemetery that is designed to rot and feed the landscape.
